La energía que transmite Cuenca en cada uno de sus espacios llenos de cultura, tradición gastronomía y naturaleza, fueron vividos por un grupo de turistas europeos con discapacidad visual, que esta semana caminaron por los atractivos mas emblemáticos de la ciudad, que cuentan con sus facilidades y accesos libres permitiendo que este grupo se lleve el mejor recuerdo de la Atenas del Ecuador.
The energy that Cuenca transmits in each of its spaces full of culture, tradition, gastronomy and nature, was experienced by a group of European tourist group with visual impairment, who this week walked through the most emblematic attractions of the city, which have their facilities and free access allowing to this group take the best memory of the Athens of Ecuador.
El grupo conformado por 16 personas, 12 de ellos con discapacidad visual, llegaron a la ciudad con la intención de conocer su cultura, patrimonio, artesanías, saborear su gastronomía y sentir su naturaleza.
The group of 16 people, 12 of them with visual impaired, arrive in the city with the intention of learning about its culture, heritage, crafts, taste its cuisine and feel its nature.
El recorrido empezó por las tiendas de sombreros de paja toquilla, una de ellas Homero Ortega, Parque Calderón, Catedral de la Inmaculada, Plaza de las Flores, Convento Carmen de la Asunción, algunas cafeterías y concluyó en el Parque Nacional Cajas.
The route begum at the Toquilla Straw Hat shops, one of them was Homero Ortega, Parque Calderón, Cathedral of the Inmaculada, Plaza de las Flores, Carmen de la Asunción Convent, some cafés and concluded in Cajas national Park.
Para Pierket Kristov turista alemana no vidente, venir a Cuenca ha sido su mayor regalo. “Es una ciudad donde he vuelto a vivir, a sentir y descubrir cosas maravillosas, pude palpar la Catedral de la Inmaculada en miniatura, pienso que es majestuosa, mágica, llena de buena vibra, de esa que necesito y me llevo un poco”, expresó Kristov.
For Pierket Kristov, a blind german tourist, coming to Cuenca has been his greatest gift. “It’s a city where I’ve come back to live, to feel and discover wonderful things, I was able to feel the Cathedral of the Inmaculada in miniature. I think it is majestic, magical, full of good vibes, the kind I need and I'm taking some with me”, said Kristov.
Este grupo integrado también por turistas suizos y austriacos, llegó a Ecuador una vez que la agencia Latin America For All, especializada en “rutas turísticas para personas con discapacidad”, tuvo contacto con ellos mientras participaban en una feria el año pasado en Alemania. Su deseo de venir a Ecuador se cumplió este año.
This group which also includes swiss and austrian tourists arrived in Ecuador after the travel agency Latin America For All specialized in “tourist routes for people with disabilities” had contact with them while they were participating in a fair last year in Germany. Their wish to come to Ecuador was fulfilled this year.
“Ha sido una experiencia increíble venir a Cuenca. El grupo está contento y ha podido movilizarse por todos los espacios sin ninguna barrera. Y gracias a su gran olfato, han podido palpar, sentir y llevarse esa buena vibra que tiene esta ciudad. Este año estuvimos una noche en Cuenca, la próxima serán dos o más”, contó Francisco Marañón guía de la agencia.
“It has been an incredible experience to come to Cuenca. The group is happy and has been able to move around all the spaces without any barriers. And thanks to their great sense of smell, they have been able to feel and take away that good vibe that this city has .This year we were in Cuenca for one night, the next one will be two or more”, said Francisco Marañon, the agency's guide.
Daniel Hernández propietario de Posada del Ángel, hostal donde se hospedó el grupo, manifestó la importancia de contar con los espacios necesarios para recibir a turistas con todo tipo de discapacidad. Su establecimiento por ejemplo, ya cuenta con espacios libres de barreras y el personal con conocimientos teóricos y prácticos para atender a este importante grupo de personas que llegan a la ciudad para disfrutar de sus servicios y hospitalidad.
Daniel Hernandez Posada del Ángel owner, hostal were the group accommodated, expressed the importance of having the necessary places to receive tourists with all types of disabilities. Its establishment, for example, already has barrier-free spaces and staff with theoretical and practical knowledge to attend to this important group of people who come to the city to enjoy its services and hospitality.
Es importante mencionar que en el año 2019 a través del Ministerio de Turismo del Ecuador con apoyo de la Fundación Municipal Turismo Para Cuenca se capacitó a 295 prestadores de servicios turísticos del Centro Histórico de Cuenca (propietarios y personal de servicio de los hoteles, restaurantes, cafeterías, bares y discotecas, operadores de turismo y agencias de viajes), sobre “Sensibilización para la Atención a Turistas con Discapacidad”, proceso fundamental para hacer de la ciudad un destino inclusivo y para todos. El CONADIS y FENEDIF formaron parte del proceso.
It’s important to mention that in 2019 through the Ministry Tourism of Ecuador with the support of Cuenca Tourism Board, 295 tourist service providers of the Historical Center of Cuenca (owners and service personnel of hotels, restaurants, cafes, bars and discotheques, tour operators and travel agencies), were trained on “Awareness for attention to tourist with disabilities” a fundamental process to make the city an inclusive destination for all. CONADIS and FENEDIF were part of the process.
