Mi nombre es Felipe Idrovo y soy cinematógrafo de bodas. Hace cinco años me dejé atrapar por esta hermosa categoría del séptimo arte luego de haber realizado mis estudios en cinematografía publicitaria. La magia de contar historias a través de personas reales documentando sus vidas me ha llevado a muchas partes del mundo y he recolectado un sinfín de gratas experiencias. En todo este corto camino recorrido hasta hoy en la industria de las bodas me centraré en dar mi testimonio sobre las bodas de destino en Cuenca Ecuador.
My name is Felipe Idrovo and I'm a wedding cinematographer. Five years ago I became caught up in this beautiful category of the seventh art after studying advertising film making. The magic of storytelling through real people documenting their lives has taken me to many parts of the world and I have collected a lot of great experiences. In this short time, I have traveled far into the wedding industry andwill focus on giving my testimony about destination weddings in Cuenca, Ecuador.
Existen básicamente dos tipos de bodas de destino; cuando la pareja es completamente extraña a nuestra ciudad, por ejemplo, una pareja de estadounidenses o una pareja europea, y la segunda categoría es cuando una persona cuencana que emigró a otro país regresa a celebrar su matrimonio con su pareja extranjera.
There are basically two types of destination weddings. The first is when the couple is a complete stranger to our city, for example, an American or a European couple, and the second is when a person from Cuenca emigrated to another country and is returning to celebrate their marriage with their foreign partner.
Desde los últimos años las bodas de destino se han puesto de moda en todo el mundo, siendo un ingreso muy importante para el sector turístico y para la industria de las bodas. Cuando tenemos una boda de destino en Cuenca Ecuador de una pareja extranjera ésta invierte su dinero en flores, bebida, centro de recepciones, música, entretenimiento, fotografía, video, etc. También vienen acompañados de 20 o 30 personas que son su familia más cercana y sus mejores amigos como la dama de amor, el padrino, etc. Además, su estadía no solo es de un fin de semana para celebrar su matrimonio, sino que en la mayoría planea sus vacaciones completas alrededor de 30 días en nuestra hermosa ciudad. Esto significa que aparte de invertir en bodas también lo hacen en hotelería, gastronomía, artesanía, guías turísticos, etc. Por su parte las bodas de destino de personas locales significan una entrada turística menor en cuestión consumo e inversión de invitados extranjeros, generalmente vienen alrededor de 20 personas de la familia ya sea del novio o de la novia extranjera.
In the last few years, destination weddings have become fashionable all over the world, creating a very important income for the tourism sector and for the wedding industry. When we have a destination wedding in Cuenca, Ecuador of a foreign couple, they invest their money in flowers, drinks, reception center, music, entertainment, photography and video. They also come accompanied by twenty or thirty people who are their wedding attendants, family and best friends. Their stay is not only a weekend to celebrate their marriage, but in most cases they plan their entire vacation around thirty days in our beautiful city. This means that in addition to investing in weddings they also invest in hotels, gastronomy, handicrafts,and tour guides. On the other hand, weddings of returning Cuencanos includes a minor tourist entrance of around twenty foreign guests, also bringing to Cuenca income to hotels, restaurants and other tourist attractions.
En cualquiera de los casos nuestra ciudad, que se encuentra dentro de un país en desarrollo potencialmente turístico en la industria de las bodas de destino, ha dado mucho de qué hablar mediante plataformas de opinión como TripAdvisor, Ecuador Wedding Destination y muchas otras, y también dentro de revistas en donde se promociona cada año a nivel mundial las mejores bodas de destino. En Cuenca todas las bodas de destino que he tenido el agrado de realizar son capturadas desde una perspectiva mucho más turística a petición de los novios con sesiones de pareja en el Parque Nacional Cajas o con la hermosa arquitectura de la zona céntrica de nuestra ciudad y la realización de la ceremonia dentro de nuestras iglesias patrimoniales.
Our city, which is located within a developing country with potential tourism in the destination wedding industry, has received much advertising through opinion platforms such as TripAdvisor, Ecuador Wedding Destination and also within magazines where the best destination weddings are promoted worldwide every year.
In Cuenca, all the destination weddings I have had the pleasure of organizing are captured from a much more touristic perspective at the request of the bride and groom. Ceremonies are held in the Cajas National Park or in the downtown area of our city surrounded with the beautiful architecture and the performance of the ceremony inside our heritage churches.
Cada pareja cuenta una historia propia y se llevan con ellos un pedacito y un recuerdo inolvidable de Cuenca que se reproduce en fechas especiales en donde nace el deseo de regresar a nuestra ciudad para revivir estos momentos tan bellos.
Each couple tells their own story and takes with them a little piece, and an unforgettable memory of Cuenca, to be reproduced on special dates when the desire to return to our city to relive these beautiful moments is born.
