¿Cuántos lugares de la Sierra ecuatoriana conoces? Después de los contratiempos causados por el problema salubre mundial de COVID - 19, queremos ser turistas en nuestro propio país, re-descubrirlo y disfrutarlo nuevamente.
Cuenca, Latacunga, Ambato, Riobamba y Quito se juntaron para mostrarte experiencias únicas en Los Andes: cultura, arte y artesanía, gastronomía, montañas y caminatas, etc, son parte de esta aventura.
Las cinco ciudades que forman parte de este recorrido, comparten una cultura similar, tradiciones y gastronomía, por ser parte del callejón interandino. También, se caracterizan por sus impresionantes montañas y vistas panorámicas -algunas, incluso forman parte de antiguos caminos incas-, volcanes y nevados. En estos entornos únicos también se incluyen nuestros parques nacionales, ricos en flora y fauna e importantes fuentes de agua.
How many places in the Ecuadorian Sierra have you visited? After the setbacks caused by the global health problem of COVID - 19, we want to be tourists in our own country, re-discover and enjoy it again.
Cuenca, Latacunga, Ambato, Riobamba and Quito came together to show you unique experiences in the Andes: culture, art and crafts, gastronomy, mountains and walks, are part of this adventure.
These five cities -part of this tour- share a similar culture, traditions and gastronomy, as they are part of the inter-Andean alley. Also, they are characterized by their impressive mountains and panoramic views -some of them are even part of ancient Inca trails-, volcanoes and snowy mountains. These unique environments also include our national parks, rich in flora and fauna and important water sources.
CUENCA - AZUAY
Cuenca, nuestra ‘Atenas del Ecuador’. Respira en el majestuoso Parque Nacional Cajas, camines o acampes entre sus lagunas; luego podrás visitar nuestro Centro Histórico -declarado por la UNESCO como Patrimonio Cultural de la Humanidad-. Te maravillarás con las actividades en bicicleta y las caminatas entre monumentales edificios. Un Centro Histórico lleno color en cada una de nuestras plazas y plazoletas, comercios, heladerías, restaurantes típicos e internacionales, cafés y hoteles en sus antiguas casonas.
En Cuenca y sus alrededores podrás probar la mejor gastronomía andina del Ecuador; al llegar a San Joaquín, pregunta por las deliciosas carnes asadas; el cuy y chancho hornado en Ricaurte y las truchas del Cajas. Sabores y experiencias inolvidables.
No olvides que en cada una de las comunidades rurales del Cantón Cuenca, podrás visitar y vivir una experiencia en el campo, ‘trabajar’ con productores agroecológicos en el arado y cosecha, cocinar con los secretos de las señoras, y terminar el día siendo parte de rituales ancestrales que limpiarán tu energía.
Cuenca, our ‘Athens of Ecuador’. Breathe in the majestic Cajas National Park, walk or camp among its lagoons. Then you can visit our Historic Center -declared by UNESCO as Cultural Heritage of Humanity-. You will marvel at the cycling activities and the walks among monumental buildings. A Historic Center full of color in each of our squares and shops, ice cream parlors, typical and international restaurants, cafes and hotels in their old houses.

RIOBAMBA - CHIMBORAZO
También conocida como ‘La Sultana de los Andes’, desde aquí podrás ver al volcán Chimborazo, el Carihuairazo, el Altar y el Tungurahua.
Sin duda, uno de sus principales atractivos de esta ciudad, es que estarás muy cerca de Cajabamba y las lagunas de Colta y el pueblo pequeño de Guamote y Alausí. La parte más excitante del viaje será ver el amanecer en la llamada "Nariz del Diablo". Todo este recorrido, será aún más especial, gracias a los sabores tradicionales de su ruta gastronómica y la convivencia comunitaria en sus parroquias.
Riobamba: Also known as ‘The Andes Sultan’, from here you can see the Chimborazo volcano, the Carihuairazo, the Altar and the Tungurahua.
Without a doubt, one of its main attractions in this city is that you will be very close to Cajabamba and the Colta lagoons, the small town of Guamote and Alausí. The most exciting part of the trip will be to see the sunrise at the "Devil's Nose". All this tour will be even more special, thanks to the traditional flavors of its gastronomic route and the community coexistence in its parishes.
AMBATO - TUNGURAGUA
La ‘Ciudad de las Flores y las Frutas’ se encuentra rodeada de volcanes y nevados como el Tungurahua, Chimborazo y Carihuayrazo.
Este valle posee una cantidad impresionante de atractivos culturales y turísticos; te recomendamos preguntar por su Jardín Botánico y sus parques principales. También podrás ser parte de rutas hacia los volcanes y disfrutar de su deliciosa gastronomía: llapingachos, pan de pinllo, helados de fioca, colada morada y empanada de viento, entre otros.
Ambato: The ‘City of Flowers and Fruits’ is surrounded by volcanoes and snowy mountains such as Tungurahua, Chimborazo and Carihuayrazo.
This valley has an impressive amount of cultural and tourist attractions; ask about its Botanical Garden and its main parks. You can also be part of routes to the volcanoes and enjoy its delicious cuisine: llapingachos, pinllo bread, fioca ice cream, purple colada and wind empanada, among others.
LATACUNGA - COTOPAXI
Un bello rincón andino -en el centro del Ecuador- conocido como ‘La Tierra de los Mashcas’. En su Centro Histórico podrás maravillarte con centenarias construcciones e iglesias, con rasgos coloniales, que añaden un ambiente de encanto. Sus estrechas y empedradas calles llaman la atención y causan la sensación de estar en el pasado. Por las noches, las luces iluminan estas construcciones volviéndolas aún más atractivas para las cámaras fotográficas.
Sus parroquias rurales, también estarán listas para hacer que disfrutes de su fascinante gastronomía mashca, su diversidad de culturas y las experiencias que forman parte del turismo comunitario.
Latacunga: A beautiful Andean corner -in the center of Ecuador- known as ‘The Mashcas Earth’. In its Historic Center you can marvel at centuries-old buildings and churches, with colonial features, which add an atmosphere of charm. Its narrow and cobbled streets attract attention and cause the feeling of being in the past. At night, the lights illuminate these constructions, making them even more attractive to cameras.
Its rural parishes will also be ready to make you enjoy its fascinating mashca gastronomy, its diversity of cultures and the experiences that are part of community tourism.
QUITO - PICHINCHA
Finalmente, Quito, la capital de Centro del Mundo; aquí te espera un Centro Histórico también nombrado Patrimonio de la Humanidad por su gran belleza, balcones y plazoletas. A un par de horas de Quito, te encontrarás con El Chocó Andino, la séptima Reserva de Biósfera del país. Más de 280 mil hectáreas de área protegida y 270 especies de mamíferos. El extenso territorio del Chocó conserva espectaculares atractivos naturales como ríos y cascadas, alrededor de los cuales se impulsan alternativas de aventura y turismo sostenible. En este territorio se localiza el circuito Mindo - Tandayapa, un sitio donde se realizó el Conteo Navideño de Aves -en diciembre de 2018- y se registró 434 especies en un radio imaginario de 20 kilómetros, durante 24 horas, donde participaron 174 avituristas.
Finally, Quito, the capital of ‘Center of the World’; here awaits you a Historic Center also named a World Heritage Site for its great beauty, balconies and squares. A couple of hours from Quito, you will find The Chocó Andino, the seventh Biosphere Reserve in the country. More than 280 thousand hectares of protected area and 270 species of mammals. The extensive territory of Chocó preserves spectacular natural attractions such as rivers and waterfalls, around which alternatives for adventure and sustainable tourism are promoted. The Mindo - Tandayapa circuit is located in this territory, a site where the Christmas Bird Count was carried out -in December 2018- and 434 species were recorded in a radius of 20 kilometers -during 24 hours- where 174 birdwatchers participated.
